How do I bring back the little touches without making it a whole big thing?
Asked by weary_soul_48
Okay so my husband used to be the guy who'd grab my hand in the car, kiss my forehead walking by, all that stuff. Lately (like the past few months) it's basically gone — we still get along great, no fighting, but it's like we're roommates who happen to like each other lol. I miss the physical little stuff so much and I don't think he even notices it's missing.
I don't want to turn this into a big Serious Conversation because honestly nothing is "wrong," I just want more of the good stuff back. Has anyone actually nudged their husband back into being affectionate without it feeling like a complaint or a chore for him? Would love ideas that worked for real people, not just "communicate more" — trying to figure out the actual how here. We've got this, just need a game plan!

most helpful firstok this is such a real thing and honestly super common, you two aren't broken, you just drifted into comfy-roommate mode which happens to everyone eventually lol. the good news is you don't need a Big Talk for this, you need reps. start doing the little touches yourself, no explanation, no buildup, just grab his hand in the car or kiss his cheek walking by like it's nothing. don't wait for him to notice, be the one who models it for like two weeks straight. most guys mirror what's happening around them without even realizing it, so you touching him more often quietly retrains the habit. if after a few weeks it's still one-sided, THEN a light comment works, something like 'i miss when we used to be handsy, not complaining just noticing' said with a smile, not a sit-down convo. keep it playful and low stakes, that's the whole trick here.
